The KS 5400 haulm topper promotes uniform tuber ripening by reducing haulm two to three weeks before harvest. This helps prevent the transmission of viral infections from haulm to tubers and improves skin set, enhancing storability. It also provides a sustainable alternative or supplement to chemical desiccation.
By mechanically crushing the haulm and placing it carefully between the ridges, the machine ensures effective field conditions for further treatments. It also reduces the risk of blockages at the harvester intake, improving throughput capacity, especially in fields with heavy haulm growth.
Highlights
The KS 5400 haulm topper ensures smooth and reliable performance with a 5-fold V-belt drive that provides uniform power transmission. Its double-sided gearbox drive distributes force evenly to the flail shaft, reducing wear and ensuring stable operation. Four large cleaning flaps offer easy access for quick and efficient maintenance.
For precise working control, the machine features stepless height adjustment via spindle-equipped support wheels, along with hydraulically adjustable outer wheels for added convenience. An end tow kit allows safe road transport with a width of less than 3 meters, improving mobility between fields.
