Given that world potato production is about 320 million tons per year (20 million tons per year in the United States) and world tomato production is about 120 million tons per year (13 million tons per year in the U.S.), late blight is a major problem worldwide even today.

Class Action Lawsuit Targets McDonald's Use of Toys to Market to Children
A mother of two says that McDonald’s uses toys as bait to induce her kids to clamor to go to McDonald’s and to develop a preference for nutritionally poor Happy Meals. With the help of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, today the mom, Monet Parham, is filing a class action lawsuit aimed at stopping McDonald’s use of toys to market directly to young children.

UK's Tesco opens long-awaited first U.S. store
The world's third-largest retailer, has begun its long-awaited launch in the United States, opening its first store near Los Angeles. Britain's most successful retailer opened its Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market in the small city of Hemet late last week.
