Tong SwiftLift appoints Tom Allwood as Electrical and Service Manager

Tong SwiftLift, part of the Tong Engineering Group, is strengthening its engineering, electrical development and customer support capabilities with the appointment of Tom Allwood as Electrical and Service Manager.

Bringing nearly two decades of industry experience to the role, Tom joins Tong SwiftLift with extensive knowledge of the SwiftLift range of elevators and conveyors, formerly manufactured by Terry Johnson Ltd, alongside a strong background in electrical engineering, servicing, installations and machinery development across the agricultural handling sector.

Tom’s career in the industry began in 2006 when he started his electrical apprenticeship with DB Cushen, the contractor responsible for wiring SwiftLift machines, giving him early hands-on experience with the product range.

After gaining further electrical installation experience, Tom joined The Burdens Group in 2011, where he spent more than a decade progressing to Electrical and Service Manager. During this time, he developed extensive expertise in the installation, servicing and maintenance of Tong equipment, whilst supporting customers across the United Kingdom and contributing to electrical system development and improvements.

Tom also worked closely with Tong Engineering’s Spilsby-based manufacturing facility, further strengthening his knowledge of Tong machinery, electrical systems and customer support requirements. 
 

Strengthening electrical and aftersales support

Since officially joining Tong SwiftLift in April 2026, Tom is now taking responsibility for all electrical production across the SwiftLift range, alongside managing aftersales service and support. In addition, Tom will provide local electrical support to Tong Engineering operations when required.
