Nyota is a high-yielding table potato variety released in 2016 in Kenya, bred by the International Potato Center (CIP) in collaboration with KALRO. It matures in 3–4 months and performs well in all potato-growing regions, including warm conditions. Nyota has oblong tubers with white cream skin, shallow pinkish eyes, cream flesh, and 20% dry matter. It has a long dormancy period of 2.5–3 months and shows tolerance to Late Blight and heat. Seeds are mainly produced by ADC-Molo and KALRO-Tigoni.
