The fields and shrubbery of Tasilikulooq are among the verdant rolling hills that inspired the Vikings to call this place Greenland.
However, although potatoes are grown a government research farm and in various gardens for private use, to the best of our knowledge no commercial cultivation of potatoes takes place.
Climate change recently has raised hope that cultivation of potatoes in this country with only 60.000 inhabitants might be commercially viable, but recent summers have not only be warm but also very dry - so if this ever becomes a reality remains to be seen.
