Jays Foods Inc., which has filed for bankruptcy protection, may close its facilities in Butler, DePere and Silver Lake in December and the closings could be permanent if a buyer isn't found for the snack food maker.

Chicago-based Jays Foods, maker of Jays Potato Chips, filed a mass layoff notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Oct. 15 indicating that it might shut down the three facilities, including the plant at 4410 N. 132nd Ave. in Butler, Dec. 10-24.

"In the event that the facilities are closed, we would expect these facility closings to be permanent,"the notice states.
