Fox Packaging Expands Sustainable Solutions With New Flexible Packaging Containing Recycled Content

Fox Packaging has introduced new flexible packaging options containing up to 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, strengthening its commitment to circular and sustainable packaging solutions.

PCR materials give existing plastic a second life, reducing landfill waste and lowering dependence on virgin resin. In the fresh produce industry, integrating PCR into flexible packaging supports circularity by closing the loop between material recovery and new product manufacturing without compromising performance.

Available across select Poly, Combo, and Stand-Up Pouch structures, these PCR formats come in opaque and clear films and in sizes from 1 lb to 10 lb. The Fox Poly and Fox Fresh Mesh Combo bags—popular for potatoes, oranges, limes, and lemons—can now include PCR in the base film component. (Note: the Signature Fox Fresh Mesh material does not currently incorporate PCR content.)

Performance without compromise

Because PCR supply can be tighter than virgin resin, customers are encouraged to plan for forecasted lead times. PCR films generally cost around 15% more than comparable virgin films, depending on grade and market conditions. Demand continues to rise as brands and retailers set measurable recycled-content goals and enhance sustainability reporting.

While PCR helps reduce reliance on virgin resin, it can present a visual tradeoff: the material may show slightly reduced clarity due to variability in recycled feedstock. Fox Packaging collaborates closely with resin suppliers and customers to balance sustainability objectives with product appearance and performance needs.
