Frito Lay Canada to shut Pointe Claire plant

Frito Lay Canada to shut Pointe Claire plant

Frito Lay Canada said it is shutting its Pointe Claire plant by year's end, throwing 59 people out of work.

Production of chips and snacks will be transferred to other Canadian plants.

Frito Lay is offering unspecified severance packages to its 59 employees. The plant's lease didn't expire until next spring, but the company said it wanted to shut it down now for better planning.
