The TOPPA 800 haulm topper promotes uniform tuber ripening by reducing haulm two to three weeks before harvest. This helps prevent the transfer of viral infections from haulm to tubers and improves skin set, enhancing storability. It offers a sustainable alternative or supplement to chemical desiccation by mechanically crushing the haulm and placing it carefully between the ridges.
With the ability to top eight rows in a single pass, the TOPPA 800 is ideal for high-capacity operations. It significantly increases efficiency while reducing the risk of blockages at the harvester intake, even in fields with dense haulm growth. The machine is especially suitable for farms using eight-row planters and for tractors without a front PTO shaft.
Designed for convenience and flexibility, the TOPPA 800 is rear-mounted and features a hydraulically foldable frame that reduces transport width to three metres for safe road travel. It can also be adapted to various row and track widths, including configurations for bed cultivation, ensuring versatility across different farming conditions.
Highlights
The optional RidgeRunner system uses ridge pressing wheels to close cracks on ridge tops after haulm topping. Its individual suspension ensures precise adaptation to each row, while low tyre pressure enables targeted rolling for effective soil coverage.
This helps protect potatoes from sunlight, reducing the risk of green tubers. At the same time, the design ensures continuous self-cleaning, maintaining consistent performance in varying field conditions.
