Sabre™ is a heavy-duty recessed LED cleanroom high bay engineered for food processing, pharmaceutical and industrial production environments where conventional hygienic luminaires may reach their practical operating limits.
Designed for demanding conditions including continuous steam, CIP processes, extreme humidity, hydrolytic stress, elevated ambient temperatures and high-output lighting requirements, Sabre combines a permanent stainless-steel enclosure with high-density XE LED technology, advanced sealing systems and a fully serviceable architecture.
Manufactured to order, Sabre is available in standard 600 × 600 mm configurations for straightforward replacement and upgrade projects, with bespoke engineering available for special dimensions, increased power and light output, remote driver configurations, specialist materials and demanding environmental conditions.
Engineered for Steam, Chemicals & Extreme Humidity
Sabre can be configured with application-specific materials and sealing systems to withstand demanding sanitation and production environments.
It is suitable for applications involving:
- Continuous steam and CIP
- Extreme humidity
- Hydrolytic stress
- High ambient temperatures
- Aggressive sanitation
- Food-processing chemicals
- Pharmaceutical environments
- Industrial chemical processing
EPDM sealing systems are standard for most food-processing, pharmaceutical and hygienic wash-down applications. Where exposure to specialist chemicals, oils, fuels, solvents or other aggressive process media is expected, alternative sealing materials can be specified.
High-Output LED Performance
Sabre provides exceptionally high light output from a compact recessed format.
Standard 600 × 600 mm configurations include:
- 120 W — 18,000 lm
- 150 W — 22,500 lm
- 180 W — 27,000 lm
- 360 W — 54,000 lm — Custom Format
Output based on M3 lens, XE chipset, CRI 85, 5000 K (585).
CRI 85 and 95 are available as standard, with options up to CRI 97 and custom spectrum control for specialist inspection, production and process applications.
Long Service Life
Sabre is engineered for long-term performance through conservative component operation rather than driving components to their limits.
The system combines independently verified LM-80 testing, TM-21-21 reported lumen-maintenance projections and conservatively operated high-density LED arrays.
The Isollux XE dual-die LED chipset delivers:
- L80 (B0) >102,000 hours
within the published operating limits of the specified configuration.
Sabre is also specified for:
L85 >10 Years | 24/7 Operation
Serviceable by Design
Sabre's permanent stainless-steel enclosure is designed to remain part of the building throughout the life of the facility.
Unlike conventional sealed LED luminaires that may require complete replacement, Sabre's serviceable LED engines and drivers can be replaced or upgraded as components age or LED technology develops.
This architecture can extend the practical life of the installation while reducing:
- Waste
- Replacement costs
- Maintenance disruption
- Installation downtime
- Total cost of ownership
SBX — Lift-Out LED & Lens Assembly
The Sabre SBX incorporates the LED light engine, lens and retaining frame into a single sealed removable assembly.
The complete assembly can be removed quickly for cleaning or servicing away from the production area.
SBX is particularly suitable where grease, fats, dust or other contaminants can progressively reduce light transmission and where routine maintenance forms part of the cleaning programme.
SBR — Fixed Lens Assembly
The Sabre SBR uses a permanently sealed lens within the stainless-steel frame.
The LED engine can be removed independently from above, while the lens is normally cleaned from below and removed only when replacement is required.
SBR is ideal where maintaining the room-facing hygienic seal is the priority, while still providing a fully serviceable LED lighting system.
Optimised Visual Comfort & Safety
Sabre's high-density LED arrays and diffuse optics are designed to eliminate harsh point-light sources and reduce high-intensity reflected glare from white and stainless-steel surfaces.
Soft, uniform illumination helps reduce shadows around complex machinery and production equipment, improving visibility for:
- Safe operation
- Inspection
- Cleaning
- Maintenance
- Process control
- Ingress Protection
Sabre provides a minimum ingress protection rating of IP66, with configurations available up to IP69K on the room-facing side.
This makes the system suitable for demanding high-pressure wash-down and sanitation environments.
Lighting Controls
Sabre supports both basic and advanced lighting-control systems, including:
- Dual-circuit switching
- DALI dimming
- Occupancy sensing
- Tunable white
- Multi-channel spectrum control
This allows the luminaire to be configured for applications ranging from straightforward switching through to sophisticated process and inspection lighting.
Emergency Lighting
Emergency configurations include:
- 30 W / 90-minute emergency pack
- Auxiliary 30 W driver to reduce
- UPS load DALI emergency scene control
Selected luminaires can therefore be assigned to an emergency lighting scene where required.
Independent SELV Remote Drivers
Sabre uses independent SELV drivers, de-rated to 80% of maximum output to reduce component stress and support long-term reliability.
Drivers can be remotely mounted up to 300 m from the luminaire where maintenance access is restricted or where elevated ambient temperatures require electrical equipment to be located outside the operating environment.
Driver protection includes:
- Minimum IP66 independent
- SELV drivers
- IP67 power connection
- Flicker-free output
- Under-voltage protection
- Over-voltage protection
- Short-circuit protection with automatic recovery
- Over-temperature protection
- 90–305 VAC wide input range
- 6 kV DM / 10 kV CM surge protection
- Class I & Class II hazardous-location suitability
Application-Specific Lens Materials
Sabre offers three principal lens-material options:
- M1: Maximum Resistance M1 PPSU provides the highest level of chemical, temperature and hydrolytic resistance, including direct steam exposure.
- M2: TPX M2 TPX is designed for demanding food-processing chemicals and sanitisers.
- M3: Polycarbonate M3 polycarbonate is suited to applications where aggressive chemicals, elevated temperatures and hydrolytic stress are not primary concerns.
