De aardappeloogst in Algerije in 2010 groeide met 20% t.o.v. 2009. Rachid Benaissa, minister van landbouw geeft aan dat men in 2010 een volume van 3,2 miljoen bereikte. In 2009 was dit 2,6 miljoen ton en in 2008 bedroeg het volume 2,2 miljoen ton.
De minister geeft aan dat men zo snel mogelijk een productie van 4 miljoen ton per jaar wil bereiken. De productiestijging is te danken aan invoering en beheersing van productietechnieken en ontwikkelingen in professionaliteit.
De minister geeft aan dat het aardappelareaal ook zal worden uitgebreid. In 2010 was er meer dan 51.000 hectare, een stijging van 18% ten opzichte van 2009.
