Het ministerie van landbouw in Libanon zal dit jaar beginnen met de export van 50.000 ton aardappelen naar de EU. Volgens de minister is Libanon ook van plan om appelen en druiven naar de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten te exporteren. Dit zal gebeuren na controles op residuen van gewasbeschermingsmiddelen.
Hij geeft aan dat de landbouwsector al 20 jaar last heeft van problemen. Nu heeft het ministerie verschillende acties ondernomen om de productie te verhogen. Deze maatregelen hebben onder andere betrekking op voedselveiligheid en groter areaal.
