Technical Conference 2026 - The potato, from Argentina to the world

Jornada Técnica 2026: 'La Papa, de Argentina al Mundo' is a specialised technical conference focused on the future of potato production, innovation, and sustainability in Argentina and the global potato industry. The event will take place on 25 August 2026 at the Predio Sociedad Rural Balcarce, Balcarce, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Organised by the Banco de Alimentos Balcarce (BDA), the event will bring together potato growers, agricultural professionals, researchers, suppliers, companies, educational organisations, and industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest developments shaping potato production systems. 

The conference aims to present and debate scientific and technological advances related to potato cultivation while creating a collaborative platform for producers, experts, businesses, and institutions. It seeks to establish itself as a key regional, national, and international reference event for the potato production ecosystem. 

The programme will cover major topics across the potato value chain, including global potato production trends, regional production systems, climate change and sustainability, soil management, genetic improvement, new breeding technologies, potato varieties, commercial strategies, fertilisation efficiency, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable agronomic practices. 

Experts from leading agricultural and research organisations, including INTA Balcarce, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the National University of Mar del Plata (UNMdP), and industry representatives, will participate in technical sessions and discussions. The event will also feature contributions from companies involved in potato production for fresh markets and processing industries. 

Beyond its technical focus, the event has a strong social purpose, supporting the ongoing activities of Banco de Alimentos Balcarce and contributing to food assistance initiatives. The conference will also strengthen connections between the potato sector and organisations working to reduce hunger, improve nutrition, and prevent food waste.
