Rosita is an early-maturing potato variety (90 days) suited for chips, crisps, and table use. Released in the 1980s, it grows well across all potato-growing areas of Malawi. The plant is erect and medium-tall with dark green leaves, rarely flowering. Tubers are red-skinned, long-oblong, with yellow flesh and superficial eyes. It yields 18–25 tonnes/ha under intensive management, has a short dormancy (30–45 days), 21% dry matter, and is susceptible to late blight.
