Yuraq Tumbay is a rare potato variety with oblong, intense yellow skin and yellow flesh. It produces 14–37 tubers per plant, yielding 0.4–1.2 kg. It has a semi-erect growth habit and medium purple flowers. It is moderately susceptible to rancha disease and frost but stores well for over 5 months. Grows best at 3,200–4,000 meters altitude and has a short cooking time, ideal for boiling and pachamanca.
