News on The Potato Supply Chain from Hungary

Hungary hasn't been self-sufficient in the potato market for a long time, but the price of potatoes in February was still extraordinary.

Potato growers in Hungary are in a tough position as potato prices are low. On top of that, yield has been negatively affected by heat and quality is far from optimal.

According to information from the press office of the Agricultural Ministry, a new mandatory labelling regulation applies, starting September, to all potatoes sold in Hungary, whether packaged or sold in bulk.
