A new study will dig deep into the soil to determine how watering and irrigation methods affect southern Alberta’s potato crops. The research project is a partnership. It is made possible through a grant from the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

Cavendish Farms to open Potato Research Centre in Prince Edward Island
Canadian potato processing company Cavendish Farms, a subsidiary of J.D. Irving, announced last week that it will build a new potato research and plant breeding centre in New Annan, Prince Edward Island.
Yellow, white, and medley potatoes contributed the largest volume increases for the fresh category in the fourth quarter, up by 6.9%, 15.5%, and 24.5%, respectively. Red potatoes saw the largest decline in volume sales falling by -7.5%.
