Representatives of early potato producers from different European areas, among which is Andalusia, will constitute a working group within Europatat, the European Association for potato trade, in order to defend and promote the early potato sector on a European level.
The presentation of the project will take place during the Second Congress of Early Potatoes to be held on October 14th in Seville. At the Congress representatives of the new potato sector will meet to discuss the current situation of the sector and design an action plan to enable them to strengthen their institutional presence in Brussels. The Congress will be inaugurated by Clara Aguilera, the Regional Minister for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for the Government of Andalusia.
The congress, which will be attended by farmers, packers, industrial assistants, marketing representatives, associations, institutions and consumer organizations, is organized jointly with the early potato sector which is part of Asociafruit, and has the support of Europatat, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of Andalusia, Extenda and the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation.
