Aardappelen zijn in een jaar tijd bijna 40% duurder geworden, terwijl ons voedsel gemiddeld maar 0,8% duurder werd, aldus hoofdeconoom Michiel Vergeer van het CBS.
Volgens Vergeer besteedt de Nederlandse consument gemiddeld 0,2 procent van het budget aan aardappelen en aardappelproducten.
,,Opmerkelijk is dat frites juist goedkoper zijn geworden'', aldus Vergeer. Frites waren in januari 6 procent goedkoper dan een jaar geleden.
Het CBS meet maandelijks welke producten in een jaar tijd het meest in prijs zijn gestegen, of gedaald.
De prijs van aardappelen is opgelopen door slechte oogsten. ,,De prijs in de winkel is flink gestegen.'' Als een zak aardappelen van 1 kilo een jaar geleden 2 euro kostte, is dat nu 2,78 euro rekende Vergeer voor.
