First Potato Dynamics

The FPD Group specialises in the development and commercialisation of potato varieties. Established in 1996, they have been producing and selling high quality potato seed for over 20 years.

FPD Holdings is the South African agent for two major Dutch Breeding Houses, namely Agrico and Meijer. Having this agreement means FPD is allowed to import, sell and multiply Agrico and Meijer cultivars in South Africa. A royalty fee is then paid to Agrico and Meijer for this right.

Historically FPD’s focus was on the processing industry which is a very rapidly growing market in South Africa. Having established dominance in this market FPD is now actively importing new PBR varieties giving the company a strong position in the table market.

They are constantly doing new trails and importing new varieties to improve the South African market, giving the production sector a bigger selection and giving the end-user a better tasting, better looking high quality product.

The FPD Group Head Office is located in Bellville, in the Western Cape, where the administration team is located, supporting the marketing & production teams. Their Marketing and Production teams are located in Christiana, in the North West, travelling all over South Africa in their drive to produce and deliver the perfect potato seed.
