Lorch Potato Research Institute

Lorch Potato Research Institute is the center for issues of potato growing and selection achievements of the Russian Federation.

The beginning of a systematic research work on potatoes in the Russian Federation was laid by the creation in 1919 of the Korenevskaya Potato Breeding Station. Its organizer and supervisor was Alexander Georgievich Lorch, later - Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Hero of Socialist Labor, laureate of the USSR State Prize.

Variety trials was one of the main tasks of the station, for which a special technique was developed.

In 1930, the station was transformed into the Potato Research Institute. The Institute's task to date remains the selection of potato varieties.
