De oogst van consumptieaardappelen zal lager uitvallen dan de ramingen die het CBS eerder vandaag bekendmaakte. Er zijn op dit moment nog teveel onzekere factoren om al een oogstcijfer te noemen, zegt voorzitter Jaap Haanstra van de LTO-vakgroep Akkerbouw.
Het CBS zegt in een voorlopige raming, dat de aardappeloogst vier procent lager zal zijn dan vorig jaar. Bij de berekening wordt ervan uitgegaan dat alles wordt geoogst. Haanstra: ,,Dat is niet het geval. Naast de oogstverliezen kan lang niet overal vierkant worden gerooid. Rond tien procent van de aardappelen zit nu nog in de grond.”
Proefrooiingen wijzen op lagere opbrengsten. Voorts wijst de voorzitter op vraagtekens rond het drogen en de bewaring van de aardappelen en de uiteindelijke hoeveelheid verwerkbaar product. ,,Ik schat in dat de oogst lager ligt dan het CBS raamt. Daar staat een gunstig marktperspectief tegenover. Er zijn volop exportmogelijkheden naar tal van Europese landen. De verwachtingen van de telers zijn dus hooggespannen.”
