Favorable weather in North Dakota and Minnesota allowed producers to make good harvest progress this past week.

USDA-NASS reported that as of Octover 3rd, potatoes were 65 percent dug in North Dakota, and 76 percent dug in Minnesota. In North Dakota the harvest is behind the 5 year average of 72 percent, but well ahead of last year when only 54 percent of the crop was in. In Minnesota the potato harvest is slightly ahead of both last year and the five year average.

Growers in the Red River Valley are reporting the potato harvest should be nearly complete by October 15th.
