Construction has started on a $5.5 million potato harvesting equipment plant in Heyburn in south-central Idaho for Double L Manufacturering.
Double L Manufacturing co-owner David Price said the 74,000-square-foot plant located in the new Magic Valley Business Park in northwest Heyburn is expected to be completed by October 2012. The company manufactures a variety of planters, harvesters and other equipment sold to dealers across the U.S. and in six other countries.
The company’s current plant is in a leased facility in American Falls. Many employees will relocate to Heyburn. “We would like to have everybody move, but that’s not likely,” Price said.
Price said he anticipates filling about half the positions with new people and expects to expand the operations within the next few years.
