Zetmeelcoöperatie Avebe en de vakbonden hebben een overeenkomst gesloten over de manier waarop het aantal arbeidsplaatsen bij het bedrijf wordt teruggebracht. Avebe gaat naar 850 personeelsleden in augustus 2011. Nu werken er nog circa 1.050 mensen. De inkrimping van het personeelsbestand gaat via natuurlijk verloop en boventallige mensen in bepaalde afdelingen worden omgeschoold en herplaatst.
