Dr. Gefu Wang-Pruski will commence a one-year term as Acting Dean and Principal, Faculty of Agriculture at Dalhousie University, effective October 30, 2023.

Dr. Wang-Pruski is currently the Chair of the Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences department within the Faculty of Agriculture, a professor who has been a member of the Faculty since 1999.

Dr. Wang-Pruski was also Dean of Overseas Education College, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in China for three years. A well-known potato scientist within North America, her research interests involve agriculture, agri-food, and potato breeding and genomics.

She was awarded a Research Excellence Award in 2008, from then Nova Scotia Agricultural College. Dr. Wang-Pruski holds a B.Sc. in Biology from Nan Kai University, China and a Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology from the University of Alberta.

Dr. Lord Abbey will be Acting Chair for the Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences for a one-year term.

Dr. Abbey has been with Dalhousie University since 2015 and is currently an Associate Professor (Horticulture).

Dr. Abbey has a BSc (Ghana)to bring on-farm, MSc (UK) and PhD (UK) in Horticulture and Crop Science with a current research focus on sustainable horticultural production systems. He is also the Vice-President of Canadian Society for Horticultural Science.
