Schönbuchschule Dettenhausen during the potato harvest, DKHV school garden project "Kids an die Knolle"

november 21, 2023
Schools all over Germany take part in "Kids an die Knolle", an educational program run by the German Potato Trade Association (DKHV). The young gardeners learn everything about the healthy natural product in theory and plant potatoes themselves.

As part of the "Kids an die Knolle" project, the German Potato Trade Association (DKHV) will continue to offer children the opportunity to experience the cultivation, growth and harvest as well as the versatility of potatoes in a practical and clear way in 2024. The aim of the project is to teach children the value of healthy eating and sustainable agriculture

For 2024, schools and children's facilities are again warmly invited to join them and register here. The registration deadline is February 14, 2024.

Through the support of the Agricultural Pension Bank and their member companies, they can provide the participating institutions with the necessary planting material.

In addition, this year we are once again offering exciting excursions to local potato farmers to give children a direct insight into modern agriculture. There is also - upon request - the opportunity to prepare and taste potatoes together in the cooking bus.

They are looking forward to welcoming numerous young gardeners to "Kids an die Knolle" again this year and planting a piece of a sustainable future together. The DKHV school garden project "Kids an the Knolle" is recognized since 2017 by "In Form", an initiative for healthy food and more exercise in Germany. Information material is available to support schools.
