Social media constantly buzzes with new food hacks that promise to transform the culinary experience. The latest trend, tested by one of the reporters, did just that, leaving an unforgettable impression. JagaRico, a popular Japanese snack by Calbee Japan, resembles potato chips in the form of French fries. It comes in a variety of flavors, including limited seasonal editions.

Although JagaRico is already fried during production, the suggestion of dry frying it to enhance its flavor caught attention. The snack seemed perfect as is, but could it really taste better? A tweet from a fan claiming that dry frying JagaRico improves its flavor prompted the official account to test the idea.

The response was a glowing recommendation, describing the dry-fried version as more fragrant with a fluffy, potato-like texture. Though this praise was expected from the brand itself, the curiosity led to an independent experiment. The experiment was led by reporter P.K. Sanjun, who heated the JagaRico in a pan for about two minutes until a golden-brown sear developed. The process was quick, thanks to the high heat.

The result was a surprisingly delicious snack. The hot JagaRico offered a fresh experience with its warmth and enhanced fragrance. The texture was lighter and crispier than expected, leading P.K. to reconsider his previous thoughts about the snack’s weight. The dry-fried JagaRico tasted even more like potatoes, enhancing the original flavor.

Despite skepticism regarding the "fluffy" texture described by the official account, the result was undeniably tastier. P.K. estimated that dry frying made the snack about 1.5 times better than the regular version, a sentiment shared by the rest of the team. However, food reporter Ikuna Kamezawa, ever passionate about new flavors, was convinced the improvement was threefold.

Enthusiastic about the discovery, Ikuna declared that she would never return to regular JagaRico again, stating that hot JagaRico was now her go-to. Following the success with the salad flavor, the cheese-flavored version was also dry fried, proving to be equally delicious. While not every flavor was tested, it seems safe to say that dry frying any JagaRico flavor leads to similar enhancement.

For those unfamiliar with JagaRico, it’s a tasty snack on its own, with a range of flavors to enjoy. However, those who have tried it before should consider dry frying it for an upgraded experience. It may even turn some into devoted fans of the new method, just like Ikuna.
