The TOMRA Dry Peel Separator-16 (DPS-16) is the latest high-capacity solution in TOMRA Food’s peeling portfolio, engineered to meet the demands of modern, large-scale potato processing. Designed to handle up to 70 tons per hour, the DPS-16 delivers exceptional throughput while maintaining high yield and consistent peel removal.

Built on TOMRA’s proven steam peeling technology, the DPS is a long-trusted solution for efficient peel separation. It is designed to work downstream of a steam peeler, where it gently separates loosened peel from the product with greatly reduced flesh loss. Its operational flexibility allows processors to handle different potato sizes and a wide range of vegetables, including carrots, with reliable and repeatable results. 

At the core of the DPS-16 is a perforated rotating drum that enables a fully dry peeling process, eliminating the need for water during separation. This dry operation helps processors significantly reduce water consumption while keeping peel waste clean and suitable for reuse. The brushless design minimizes wear, lowers maintenance requirements, and contributes to a low total cost of ownership. 

Ease of operation and hygiene are central to the DPS-16 design. Wide, pneumatically operated access doors allow fast and safe entry for cleaning and inspection, supporting high sanitation standards and reduced downtime. The stainless-steel construction further ensures durability, hygiene, and long service life in demanding production environments.

With over 45 years of steam peeling expertise and more than 600 peeling lines installed in over 30 countries, TOMRA has developed the DPS-16 to integrate smoothly into existing steam peeling lines, requiring minimal modification or downtime. For high-volume facilities, this translates into the ability to process up to 300,000 potatoes per hour, delivering a substantial capacity boost without compromising yield or product quality.
