The Packo IRP Series is a robust industrial air-handling centrifugal pump designed for challenging applications involving liquids mixed with air or gas. The casing is constructed of thick cold-rolled plate in stainless steel 316L, fully non-porous and very smooth. Impellers are available in open or closed investment-cast designs, made from stainless steel 316L or duplex materials, and the entire wetted-surface is electropolished for enhanced corrosion resistance.
Benefits
The IRP series is specifically engineered to handle liquids that contain large amounts of air or gas — scenarios where a standard centrifugal pump would risk chocking or blocking. Thanks to its air-handling design (including a cleanable air-separator and by-pass to the casing for air evacuation), the IRP is ideal for applications such as CIP-return systems and unloading of tankers/trucks.
Advantages include:
- Higher pump efficiency vs. conventional liquid-ring pumps
- Low NPSH requirement, reducing cavitation risk
- Electropolished surfaces for improved corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning
- Modular, robust construction for easy installation and maintenance
- Reduced noise level and no need for a check-valve in many configurations
Applications
Typical uses for the IRP series include CIP-return circuits, unloading of trucks or collecting tankers in food, beverage, industrial cleaning and chemical processing environments. The pump’s design is well suited for transferring liquids with entrained gases or air, where reliability and cleanability are critical
