Grain SA is a voluntary industry organisation established in 1999 to represent the interests of grain producers across South Africa. It was formed through the merger of several commodity groups and today serves as the collective voice of farmers producing maize, wheat, soybeans, barley, sorghum and other cereals, advocating for their economic welfare and sustainable production.
Grain SA’s mission centres on supporting sustainable and profitable grain farming by providing strategic services, research, information and training to its members. The organisation engages with policymakers, market stakeholders and industry partners to influence the macroeconomic and regulatory environment, empowering producers to make informed decisions and stay competitive.
In addition to advocacy and market support, Grain SA drives innovation, capacity building and industry collaboration through programmes in research, technology transfer, farmer development and communication. By fostering partnerships and sharing actionable insights, the organisation helps strengthen the grain value chain and enhance food security in South Africa.
