East of England Potato Day

East of England Potato Day

Continues as Scheduled
In person and online

Following last year's successful formula, the East of England Potato Day will again run as a half-day session in the morning, repeated in the afternoon. You are of course more than welcome to stay with us all day.

Sharon Hall, Potato Council's Head of Communications, will open the session and give an update on activities, including the Potato Council initiative to help shoppers rediscover potatoes and drive value.

We will then cover soils and water use with Mark Stalham from Cambridge University Farm. Mark will discuss cultivation timing and depth and the impact on soil workability.

Jerry Knox from Cranfield University will discuss the lessons learned from the wettest drought in history, how the economics of irrigation are changing and what growers should consider in terms of improving irrigation management and learning how to cope with climate extremes.

These short indoor presentations in the marquee will be followed by a practical session from Mark and Jerry out in the field.

After these two field workshops, there will be ample opportunity to discuss a range of topics with various experts
