Chris Verschueren (52) uit Moerzeke-Kastel (Belgie)doet op vrijdag 3 september vanaf 11 uur een poging om het wereldrecord frieten bakken te verbeteren.
Momenteel staat een Kalmthoutse friturist met zijn prestatie van 72 uur lang onafgebroken frieten bakken als recordhouder vermeld in het Guiness Book of Records. Traiteur-frituur Chris aan de De Pannestraat in Kastel wil daar maar liefst 11 uur aan toevoegen en tot maandag 6 september om 22 uur doorgaan met frieten bakken.
