A formation meeting has been called to establish a new peak organisation for the South Australian potato industry.
Nick Psevdos, convenor of the South Australian Potato Industry Steering Committee, said the committee had received overwhelming support from potato industry stakeholders across South Australia to proceed with the formation of the new organisation, which is proposed to be named Potatoes South Australia Incorporated.
“The proposed scope and role of the new organisation is for an inclusive, ‘whole of value chain’ entity (covering the seed, fresh market and processing potato sectors, and including potato growers, packers, processors, marketers and other service providers), that will assist businesses with a real voice in this changing and dynamic business environment,” said Mr Psevdos.
As required under the Associations Incorporation Act 1985 (South Australia), a formation meeting to establish the new organisation has now been called. All interested industry stakeholders are invited to attend this formation meeting, which will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011, commencing at 2pm at the PIRSA training room, level 7, 101 Grenfell Street, Adelaide.
