BASF Plant Sciences verwacht dat vanaf 2012 de genetisch gemodificeerde aardappelrassen Amflora, Amadea en Modena geteeld kunnen worden in Nederland. De teelt van Amflora is al toegelaten in Europa, de twee andere ggo aardappelrassen bevinden zich nog in de toelatingsprocedure.
BASF Plant Sciences wil voor de teelt in eigen beheer een areaal opzetten bij Nederlandse telers.
Het betreft zetmeelaardappelrassen, die niet bestemd zijn voor consumptie.
Ook Fortuna, het ggo-aardappelras dat bestand is tegen de aardappelplaag (Phytophthora) en wel voor consumptie is bestemd, zal spoedig op grote schaal geteeld worden.
