Ante la subida del precio de la papa, que sería principalmente por la reciente prohibición a la importación de este tubérculo;el gerente general del Instituto Boliviano de Comercio Exterior (IBCE), Gary Rodríguez afirmó que el ingreso de papa peruana permite generar una mejor competencia.
“Una buena intención acabó con una afectación al bolsillo del consumidor;por supuesto que los productores bolivianos estarán satisfechos. Si la papa peruana podría entrar a nuestro territorio por la vía legal como lo estaba haciendo, competiría con la boliviana y establecería un precio intermedio, que no sea ni tan bajo, ni tan alto;de esta forma ganaría el productor nacional y ganaría también el consumidor nacional”, dijo Rodríguez en entrevista al periódico digital Oxígeno.
Las declaraciones surgen luego de que la semana pasada se incrementara el precio de la papa, hasta en 38 bolivianos por arroba;pese a que los productores afirmaron a este mismo medio que no incrementaron el precio del tubérculo, acusando a las vendedoras de especulación.
