Variety Description

Runtus is a common native potato variety from the Andean region, belonging to Solanum goniocalyx. The name "Runtus" means “egg” in Quechua, referencing its round shape and yolk-yellow flesh. It is highly valued in regional markets for its high dry matter content and excellent culinary quality, particularly for making mashed potatoes, thickening soups, and caldo de gallina (hen broth).
