The TOPPA 200 haulm topper supports uniform tuber ripening by reducing haulm two to three weeks before harvest. This helps prevent the transfer of viral infections from haulm to tubers and improves skin set, enhancing storability. It offers a sustainable alternative or supplement to chemical desiccation.
The machine mechanically crushes potato haulm and carefully deposits it between the ridges, which is important for effective follow-up treatments such as herbicide application. It also reduces the risk of blockages at the harvester intake, ensuring smoother operation and increased throughput, especially in fields with dense haulm.
The TOPPA 200 can top two rows in a single pass and is versatile in use, as it can be mounted at the front or rear of the tractor in solo operation. It can also be combined with the TOPPA 600 Combi to handle up to six rows at once, and can be adapted to various row widths and bed cultivation systems.
Highlights
The TOPPA 200 can be equipped with an optional three-point linkage extension, making it especially suitable for front attachment. This increases the lifting height of the machine and reduces the angle of the PTO shaft, helping to extend the service life of drivetrain components.
Large maintenance flaps across the full width of the housing provide easy access for cleaning and quick replacement of flails. This design improves serviceability and reduces downtime during operation.
The machine ensures an optimal working height through the tractor’s three-point hydraulic system and 175 R14 support wheels. Height adjustment can be done mechanically via a spindle or hydraulically from the cab, with a clear scale for easy monitoring and precise setup.
For improved crop protection, the optional RidgeRunner system uses ridge pressing wheels to close cracks after haulm topping. This prevents sunlight exposure, reducing the risk of green tubers, while the low tyre pressure and self-cleaning design ensure effective and consistent performance.
