The PotatoEurope trade fair, which took place this week on 7 and 8 September, at the Rittergut Bockerode Estate in Springe-Mittelrode near Hanover, Germany, has confirmed its role as the international venue for potato.

International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) has announced the slate of new directors for the 2023 IFPA Board of Directors. The volunteer leaders will be confirmed by a ballot shared with membership and their board term will begin at the end of October.

United Potato Growers of Canada has hired a new General Manager, Victoria Stamper, of Mascouche, Quebec, a community just north of Montreal. Victoria will join United in this senior role, effective Monday, April 25th.

After 20 months of service as the first elected chairman of the NEPG, the Dutchman Jaap Botma from Friesland stopped as scheduled. Jaap was an arable farmer (seed potatoes, sugar beets, onions, cereals, …) for 28 years.

The United States Department of Agriculture appointed 33 new or returning members to serve three-year terms on the National Potato Promotion Board, Dba Potatoes USA. The new members will be sworn in at the organization’s Annual Meeting in March.

Paul Miller of Paul Miller Farms, Inc., Hancock, was inducted into the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association Hall of Fame at the industry’s annual awards banquet held February 9, 2022, in Stevens Point.
