Carcross/Tagish First Nation Harvest Heirloom Potato Crop
The smallest potato from the Carcross/Tagish First Nation garden harvest this year was the size of a pea. The spud might be tiny, but its ancestors travelled a long way to get here. The Lingít K'úntsx', or Tlingit potato, has been grown in Alaska for over 200 years.
Jackie Milne, president of the North Farm Training Institute, will be testing a variety of potato seeds next spring to see which ones grow best in the North.

Many potato fields across Prince Edward Island are not in the condition they usually are at this time of year due to the hot and dry conditions for much of July and August.
The WSU study estimates the reduced potato acreage due to COVID-19 lowered production by 13% or 729,120 tons of potatoes, equivalent to the weight of about 76 Space Needles.
