FAM STUMABO introduced a new universal profiled feeding system for its SureTec 240P cutter, designed to expand the range of raw materials that can be processed and facilitate machine operation on industrial potato and sweet potato processing lines.

The new configuration replaces the standard feeding system and guides the product toward the drum, positioning it optimally before cutting. According to the company, this orientation helps maximize both production capacity and french fry length, while reducing the risk of blockages, especially when processing sweet potatoes.

Greater capacity for large potatoes and sweet potatoes

One of the main changes is the increase in the maximum product entry diameter, from 110 to 200 mm, while the maximum accepted length remains 240 mm.

This expansion allows a wider range of raw materials to be processed, including large sweet potatoes that frequently exceed 110 mm in diameter.

The 240 mm-wide drum also allows long potatoes to be cut along their full length. The profile of the new feeding system is designed to position each product correctly before it comes into contact with the cutting components, helping maintain high throughput and achieve uniform cuts.

The SureTec 240P is designed to produce clean, precise cuts while reducing product breakage and slivering during processing.

Reduced dependence on highly skilled operators

FAM STUMABO notes that one of the challenges it sees among its customers is the growing difficulty of finding and retaining highly qualified technical personnel. In this context, the company has sought to simplify the setup of its equipment and reduce the number of variables that need to be adjusted directly by the operator.

Leighton Banner, Branch Manager of FAM STUMABO UK & Ireland:

"It is becoming increasingly difficult to find and retain skilled technical staff, so processors need equipment that relies less on specialized operator knowledge. With the SureTec 240P, we have removed many of the traditional setup variables. This makes it easier for operators to achieve a correct and consistent setup."

Banner added that feedback from processors confirms that the availability of skilled personnel has become a specific concern for the industry.

One of the solutions developed to address this need is the SureCut Unit (SCU). Cutting components can be preassembled and configured outside the machine with the required cut size before installation.

Additional SCUs can also be prepared in advance and kept ready for use. This allows operators to quickly replace the complete unit, reducing in-machine adjustments, the risk of setup errors and downtime associated with tool changes.

Different formats on a single platform

The SureTec 240P can process potatoes and sweet potatoes with skin on, abrasion-peeled or steam-peeled.

The machine can produce different formats, including straight-cut, crinkle-cut and deep-crinkle French fries, as well as dices and slices.

To accommodate products of different sizes, the equipment retains a selection of impellers designed to ensure proper alignment before cutting. It also incorporates a slip clutch and slip detection system, designed to protect cutting components from possible foreign objects and limit production interruptions.

Presentation at Interpom 2026

FAM STUMABO will present the updated SureTec 240P during Interpom 2026, which will take place from November 29 to December 1 in Kortrijk, Belgium.

The company will be present in Hall 1, Stand 199, where it will showcase the new feeding system and the machine’s capabilities for different applications in industrial potato and sweet potato processing.
