Kurkure is one of two master brands of Pepsico India (Lays and Kurkure). Kurkure (the Hindi word for 'crunchy') was first used as a brand name in India for corn puffs - similar to - developed and produced by Pepsico India. Pepsico India has also relaunched several of its Lehar namkeens under its Kurkure master brand

Launched in 1999, this perfect ‘namkeen’ snack, developed entirely in India, has come to be identified with fun and lovable human quirks. It developed an even stronger identity through associations with well-known Indian actors.

Kurkure is made in automated plants at three locations – Channo (Punjab), Kolkata and Pune.

In 2013 Pepsico also started producing Kurkure in Canada
