The Chip group is an association of companies in New Zealand that are involved with the supply chain of french fries (called chips in NZ). The chip group consists of manufacturers of french fries, and a range of other suppliers to the New Zealand chip shops, but also includes the National heart Foundation of New Zealand. Objective of the chips group is to:
- reduce the average fat content of foodservice hot/fried french fries by 20%.
- improve the nutritional profile of fast food hot/fried french fries
The chips group has launched standards for the preparation of french fries in the New Zealand chip shops.
