Kuraray (EVAL Europe N.V.)

Kuraray (EVAL Europe N.V.), offers high-performance ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) resin for use in food, medical, industrial, and automotive packaging.  Its  EVAL™ brand offers superior oxygen, aroma, solvent, and chemical barrier qualities, extending product shelf life, reducing food waste, and enhancing package performance. The material is commonly used in multilayer food packaging, medical packaging, plastic fuel tanks, agricultural films, district heating pipes and hoover insulation panels. In recent years, EVAL™ has gained relevance as a barrier resin compatible with recyclable polyolefin-based packaging. This supports the shift to more sustainable packaging solutions.

Kuraray was the first business to commercialise EVOH resin in 1972, following over a decade of research starting in the late 1950s. Since its debut, EVAL™ has become one of Kuraray's key speciality materials, recognised internationally for its outstanding gas barrier performance. Production capacity has grown throughout time through facilities in Japan, Belgium, and the United States, with a new large-scale production factory under development in Singapore to meet rising global demand.
