Job growth in the Columbia Basin is creating a demand for workers at McCain Foods in Othello, forcing the international potato processor and other companies to vie for a small group of available shift workers.
So McCain is turning to community groups in hopes they'll help spread the word about what the company has to offer workers.
The company also has developed new policies in an attempt to retain workers, including giving new employees five days of vacation after six months of work and assigning a coach to help new workers.
