A study published in The BMJ shows that replacing saturated fats with vegetable oils rich in linoleic acid lowers blood cholesterol, but may not curb heart disease risk or help you live longer. The findings question the widely held belief that vegetable oils rich in linoleic acid are good for heart health.

A sharp rise in sugar and palm oil prices push global food prices higher, despite falling dairy prices
The FAO Food Price Index averaged 151.0 points in March 2016, up 1.0 percent from February, but still 12.0 percent below its March 2015 level. A sharp increase in sugar prices and higher oil prices more than offset a drop of the price of dairy products.
