Branston's potato trucks get noticed. The huge images on the sides of the trucks (liveries) feature a potato family (Mr potato head reinvented) and merge humor and education. Definitely one of the fresher marketing messages on potatoes I have seen lately - and very colourful. In fact there are 14 different messages.

They grab the attention of children and motorists all over the United Kingdom and make people smile wherever they go - and now Branston's distinctive liveries have been shortlisted for a national transport award.

Branston prides itself on its colourful liveries - with their quirky messages, and was delighted to learn its designs have been shortlisted for Livery of the Year organised by the Motor Transport Awards.

Branston's account director Jo Parish said: "We are very proud of our liveries and now have 14 different designs. They've all been created to attract the attention of a younger audience - and this has certainly been the case, although the adults seem to love them too!

"The Branston liveries have really caused a stir and we have had messages from members of the public all over the country saying how great the designs are.

"We've also had many comments from our drivers who have had people waving, tooting and taking photos in appreciation. At Branston, we really do love potatoes and we wanted to get that message across - particularly to the next generation of customers."

Branston, which is one of four companies shortlisted nationwide, will find out if they have won at a ceremony in London on 6 July.

The liveries are all different and the Branston team has had great fun thinking of new ideas. There is a Branston ‘family' livery which features Desiree - a sexy pink potato with red lipstick, Maris Peer - a distinguished-looking gentleman, Saxon - an enigmatic spud with shades, and Exquisa - a dapper little potato in a top hat and bow tie.

Other liveries include key messages about potatoes, including: "Naturally fat free and high in fibre!""More nutrients for your money than rice or pasta! and "Variety is the spice of life."These were closely followed by a selection featuring some popular themes including: "You're the one that I want. Potatoes with the X-factor!"and "I'm a potato - get me out of here!"

Recently, Branston ran a competition inviting local children to come up with ideas for a new eye-catching livery. Ten-year-old Chloe Dearden from Branston Junior School came up with ‘Tate That' - to celebrate the pop group's upcoming tour. The new livery, now on the road, was unveiled by Chloe and her friends at a special event at the school.
