Food packaging solutions specialist tna has announced that founder Alf Taylor - after 30 years at the helm - is handing global operational responsibility over to Michael Green, who is returning to Sydney, Australia to take up the position as managing director for tna worldwide.
Taylor, who founded tna back in 1982 along with his wife Nadia, is now able to turn his focus to long-term business development and product innovation, having pioneered the vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) bagger, the tna robag® as well as a wide range of other end-of-line packaging solutions.
Green, in his second spell with tna, returned in 2008 as vice president – americas and now relocates to the Sydney office to assume the role of managing director providing leadership and stewardship for tna’s diverse global management team. Green will be tasked with further developing tna’s systems and processes in order to meet the global needs of tna’s expanding customer base.
Much of this rests with supporting and encouraging global and local collaboration aimed at broadening global adoption of tna packaging solutions including the tna roflo® VM 3 vibratory motion conveyor;on-machine seasoning system, the tna intelli-flav® OMS 3;plus the company’s flagship VFFS bagger, the tna robag® 3c. Green will be working with customers and tna team to implement an aggressive customer growth plan across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions.
Taylor, who has no plans to exit the business after 30 years as managing director, is keen to retain a strategic new product development (NPD) role within the business and already has some exciting product innovations in the pipeline.
“Having created the market for high performance vertical food packaging, we have always recognised the inherent dangers in standing still,” said Alf Taylor, founder of tna. “Greater global and regional competition means we must continue to innovate and I felt it was an opportune time to make some decisions regarding the tna senior management team that ensured the right skills were matched to the right roles. I’m excited about working closer with our very talented R&D team on new product innovation, and I’m sure that Michael is the right choice for managing director.”
On his appointment as managing director, Green commented: “I’m thrilled to be returning to Sydney in an exciting, global role. We have a fantastic team around the world that, I believe, totally buy into the ethos and story that underpins tna’s whole approach to food seasoning, distribution and packaging solutions. It’s a special business – a real customer-driven one – and I’m confident that the team will continue to push the boundaries and deliver the highest levels of performance and customer service seen in our sector.”
Green will be based at tna’s head office in Sydney, Australia with immediate effect.
