December 10, 2012
The Prince Edward Island Potato Board is proud to announce that Heather Moyse, an Olympic Gold Medalist hailing from Prince Edward Island, will be continuing in her role as Brand Ambassador for Prince Edward Island Potatoes. After a successful first year representing Prince Edward Island Potatoes at consumer and trade events across Canada and via social media, Heather will be active in promoting PEI Potatoes while competing for spots on both Canada’s women’s Rugby Sevens team as well as Canada’s women’s bobsled team. Prince Edward Island Potatoes are proud to serve as primary sponsor for such a gifted and dedicated athlete as Heather.

Heather says that she is “so pleased to be partnering with PEI Potatoes again, spreading the word about the health benefits of potatoes and about the industry on which I was raised. As I embark on yet another challenge, it is wonderful to have the support of the Growers behind me, and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish as a team.”

Gary Linkletter, Chairman of the Prince Edward Island Potato Board, adds that “we are very pleased to have Heather continue to represent us as part of a winning team. Heather will continue to promote the quality and value of Prince Edward Island Potatoes as well as the nutritional benefits of potatoes as part of a healthy lifestyle and balanced diet.”

Heather and teammate Kaillie Humphries were Gold Medalists at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, the first ever Canadian Olympic gold medal in women’s bobsled. Heather is also a veteran of Canada’s Senior Women’s Rugby Team, playing in 22 international matches and tying as the leading try-scorer at the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England. The Prince Edward Island Potato Board is very proud of Heather and cheers her on as she sets her sights on the 2013 Rugby Sevens World Cup in Moscow and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
