Pakistani potato growers and traders likely to suffer huge financial losses

Growers and traders of potatoes are likely to suffer losses worth nearly Rs7 billion as the exports of the vegetable have been halted due to the negligence of the government, Agriculture Forum Chairman Muhammad Ibrahim Mughal told The News.
Even though Pakistan has produced a bumper crop of around 3.4 million tons, exports were halted as Islamabad did not pay any attention towards potato exports, he said. “Growers and traders would suffer a loss of nearly Rs7 billion as abundant potatoes will perish,” he claimed.
